Droom je van een toekomst in de podiumkunsten, maar weet je niet waar te beginnen? Of wil je jezelf verder ontwikkelen in verschillende disciplines? DOX Club is ons gratis talentontwikkelingstraject voor jonge performers (16-26 jaar). Met wekelijkse repetities, coaching en workshops krijg je de kans om te experimenteren, samen te werken en je artistieke signatuur te versterken.
Het traject sluit af met de DOX Club Specials, een eindshow waarin alles samenkomt. Maar hier stopt het niet – DOX Club is de basis voor verdere groei binnen en buiten DOX. Denk aan DOX Club Lab, producties of andere creatieve platforms. DOX is parttime, je kan ernaast nog werken of naar school.

Hoe ziet een jaar DOX Club eruit?
Bij DOX Club krijg je de kans om jezelf breed artistiek te ontwikkelen in een intensief en inspirerend traject. Je werkt samen met professionele makers en andere jonge talenten, ontdekt nieuwe disciplines en wordt persoonlijk begeleid in jouw groei als performer.
Na je auditie word je ingedeeld in een club, geleid door ervaren makers uit verschillende kunstscènes. Je werkt samen met andere talenten en krijgt individuele coaching van een mentor.
Het DOX Club-traject loopt van september t/m mei en is verdeeld in twee blokken:

🔹 Blok 2: januari – mei
Per blok zijn er 2-3 clubs, elk met hun eigen makers en artistieke focus.
Je hebt twee sessies per week:
📅 Woensdagavond (18:00 - 22:00)
📅 Zondag overdag (12:00 - 18:00)
De sessies bestaan uit repetities, masterclasses, colleges en voorstellingsbezoeken. Je krijgt de ruimte om te experimenteren, te groeien en je eigen artistieke stem te ontdekken.
Het traject eindigt met een knallende presentatie: de DOX Club Specials in december en mei! 🚀✨
Voor wie is DOX Club?
DOX Club is voor iedereen tussen de 16 en 26 jaar die zich wil ontwikkelen als een breed inzetbare performer. 🎭✨ Of je nu ervaring hebt of niet, of je nu autodidact bent of een kunstopleiding volgt—bij DOX Club krijg je de kans om te experimenteren en je artistieke stem te vinden. We verwelkomen dansers, acteurs, spoken word-artiesten, muzikanten en performers die disciplines willen combineren. Het maakt niet uit waar je vandaan komt of wat je achtergrond is; het gaat om jouw talent, energie en motivatie om te groeien. 🚀
Voorbeeld profielen:
- De autodidact 🎤 – Je hebt altijd al geschreven, gedanst of geacteerd, maar nooit een opleiding gevolgd. Je wilt leren van professionals en je skills naar een hoger niveau tillen.
- De kunststudent 🎭 – Je zit op een kunstopleiding (of bent net afgestudeerd) en zoekt extra verdieping, coaching en netwerk om je carrière een boost te geven. DOX Club mag je ook gebruiken als stage!
- De rejected but not defeated 🚀 – Je hebt auditie gedaan voor een kunstopleiding, maar bent niet aangenomen. Je zoekt een nieuwe kans om jezelf te ontwikkelen en te laten zien wat je kunt.
- De allround creatieve maker 🎨 – Je houdt van verschillende disciplines, zoals spoken word, muziek en dans, en zoekt een plek waar je deze kunt combineren en experimenteren.
- De zoeker 🔍 – Je voelt dat je iets creatiefs wilt doen, maar weet nog niet precies wat. DOX Club helpt je om te ontdekken waar je kracht ligt en hoe je die verder kunt ontwikkelen.

DOX is meer dan een talentontwikkelingstraject – het is een springplank voor je toekomst in de podiumkunsten. Of je nu al op een kunstopleiding zit of juist een andere route bewandelt, DOX biedt jou de kans om te groeien als performer en maker.
✅ Voor kunststudenten: DOX Club geeft je praktijkervaring buiten je opleiding. Je werkt samen met professionele makers, breidt je netwerk uit en ontwikkelt je eigen artistieke signatuur. Bovendien kun je DOX Club inzetten als stage voor je opleiding.
✅ Voor autodidacten & niet-kunststudenten: Geen diploma? Geen probleem! DOX Club biedt een uniek traject waarin je professionele begeleiding krijgt, experimenteert met verschillende disciplines en je artistieke potentie ontdekt.
🚀 Doorgroeien? Dat kan!
Na DOX Club zijn er verschillende mogelijkheden:
- DOX Club Lab: Je eerste stappen als maker in een residentieprogramma.
- DOX-producties: Meespelen in professionele theater- en dansvoorstellingen.
- Andere productiehuizen: Veel oud-DOX’ers stromen door naar andere gezelschappen.
- Terugkeren als coach of maker bij DOX: De cirkel rondmaken en anderen inspireren.
Bij DOX draait het om jouw artistieke ontwikkeling. Waar je vandaan komt maakt niet uit – waar je naartoe wilt, wél. 🚀✨
Auditie doen lijkt mij best spannend. Hoe ziet een auditieproces eruit?
Auditie doen kan best spannend zijn, maar bij DOX maken we de auditiedagen laagdrempelig met toffe workshops en good vibes!
Ervaring is niet vereist. We hebben genoeg verhalen van DOX'ers die nog nooit toneel les hebben gehad en die nu jaren later professioneel acteur zijn.
- Eerst schrijf je je in voor de auditie (onderaan de pagina)
- Schrijf alle data, in je agenda. Graag deze data ook vrij houden.
- Bij Landelijke DOX audities doe je audities middels 3 rondes.
- Doormiddel van workshops in theater/dans/ muziek en andere kunstdisciplines komen wij achter jouw talent.
- Niet iedereen kan opera zingen of een backflip rocken. Het is ook niet erg als je beter in dansen bent of juist in theater of een andere discipline. Bij DOX werken we sowieso met verschillende kunstdisciplines door elkaar. Het belangrijkste is dat je durft!

DOX als stage / professionalisering?
Volg je een kunstopleiding en ben je op zoek naar een inspirerende stageplek? DOX Club kan in veel gevallen worden ingezet als stage of praktijkervaring binnen je opleiding. Je ontwikkelt je artistieke skills onder begeleiding van ervaren professionals en werkt samen met andere jonge talenten uit verschillende disciplines.
🔹 Stage & praktijkervaring: DOX Club biedt een intensief traject met repetities, masterclasses en coaching, waarmee je je praktijkuren kunt invullen. Check bij je opleiding of DOX als stageplek erkend kan worden.
🔹 Professionalisering: Je bouwt aan je netwerk in de creatieve sector, werkt samen met topmakers en krijgt coaching die je artistieke signatuur versterkt.
🔹 Doorgroeikansen: Na DOX Club kun je verder in DOX Club Lab of zelfs doorstromen naar producties binnen of buiten DOX.

Multidisciplinair & Transcultureel – Wat betekent dat?
Bij DOX geloven we dat de toekomst van de podiumkunsten ligt in het verbinden van disciplines en culturen. Daarom werken we multidisciplinair én transcultureel. Maar wat betekent dat precies?
🎭 Multidisciplinair: Bij DOX Club draait het niet om één kunstvorm, maar om de kruisbestuiving tussen disciplines. Elke club wordt geleid door een maker met een eigen artistieke focus – theater, dans, muziek, spoken word of iets daartussenin. Maar daar stopt het niet: jij wordt uitgedaagd om disciplines te overstijgen en je creativiteit breder in te zetten.
🌍 Transcultureel: We werken in een open omgeving waarin verschillende culturele achtergronden, stijlen en verhalen samenkomen. Dit betekent dat jouw perspectief ertoe doet en dat je de kans krijgt om te groeien in een diverse, inspirerende setting.

Melvin Fraenk
Ik ben Melvin Fraenk en Artistiek Directeur van DOX.
Mijn passie voor dans en theater is begonnen in 1996 waar ik de eerste drie jaar als acteur heb gewerkt en in 1997 mijn eerste dansgroep heb opgericht wat een van de eerste succesvolle dansgroepen in Nederland was. Later in mijn carrière heb ik de opleiding School voor nieuwe Dansontwikkeling (choreografie) gevolgd met als expertise Urban Contemporary (dans).
Ik zit al 26 jaar in het vak met als doel om de grenzen tussen verschillende disciplines te laten vervagen om zo tot een nieuwe symbiose te komen waarbij er iets nieuws wordt geschept. Transcultureel en transdisciplinair werken zijn een van mijn kernwaarden om zo een bijdrage te leveren aan de ontwikkeling van de kunst voor de toekomst. Welkom bij DOX!
ARE YOU DOX?
Do you dream of a future in the performing arts but don’t know where to start? Or do you want to develop yourself further in different disciplines? DOX Club is our free talent development program for young performers (16-26 years old). With weekly rehearsals, coaching, and workshops, you’ll get the chance to experiment, collaborate, and strengthen your artistic signature.
The program concludes with the DOX Club Specials, a final showcase where everything comes together. But it doesn’t stop there—DOX Club is the foundation for further growth, both within and beyond DOX. Think DOX Club Lab, productions, or other creative platforms. DOX is part-time, so you can combine it with work or school.

Q&A
What does a year at DOX Club look like?
At DOX Club, you’ll have the opportunity to develop yourself artistically in a challenging and inspiring program. You’ll work alongside professional creators and other young talents, explore new disciplines, and receive personal coaching to grow as a performer.
The Structure
After your audition, you’ll be placed in a club, led by experienced creators from different artistic scenes. You’ll collaborate with other talents and receive individual mentorship.
The DOX Club program runs from September to May and is divided into two blocks:
🔹 Block 1: September – December
🔹 Block 2: January – May
Each block consists of 2-3 clubs, each with its own artistic focus and mentors.
Your Weekly Schedule
You’ll have two sessions per week:
📅 Wednesday evening (18:00 - 22:00)
📅 Sunday daytime (12:00 - 18:00)
These sessions include rehearsals, masterclasses, lectures, and theater visits. You’ll have the space to experiment, grow, and discover your own artistic voice.
Final Showcase
The program concludes with two major presentations—the DOX Club Specials in December and May! 🚀✨
Getting a bit nervous for ''auditioning''. What does the audition process look like?
Auditioning can feel nerve-wracking, but at DOX, we make our audition days accessible with fun workshops and good vibes!
No experience is required. We have plenty of stories from DOX members who had never taken an acting class before but went on to become professional actors years later.
How does it work?
- First, sign up for the audition (link at the bottom of the page).
- Mark all the important dates in your calendar and make sure you’re available.
- At the National DOX Auditions, you’ll go through three rounds.
- Through workshops in theater, dance, music, and other artistic disciplines, we’ll discover your talent.
- Not everyone can sing opera or do a backflip—and that’s okay! Maybe you shine more in dance, theater, or another discipline. At DOX, we mix different art forms anyway. The most important thing is that you dare to take the leap!

Do I need experience to audition?
Anyone between the ages of 16 and 26 can audition with us. No experience is needed! You don’t have to be in an art program either. We’re looking for talent!

DOX as an Internship / Professional Development?
Are you studying an arts program and looking for an inspiring internship? In many cases, DOX Club can be recognized as an internship or practical experience within your studies. You’ll develop your artistic skills under the guidance of experienced professionals while collaborating with other young talents from different disciplines.
🔹 Internship & Practical Experience: DOX Club offers an intensive program with rehearsals, masterclasses, and coaching, allowing you to complete your practical hours. Check with your school to see if DOX can be recognized as an official internship.
🔹 Professional Development: You’ll build your network in the creative industry, work alongside top creators, and receive coaching to strengthen your artistic signature.
🔹 Growth Opportunities: After DOX Club, you can continue in DOX Club Lab or even progress to professional productions within or beyond DOX.
