Sael Heesemans

Hi! My name is Sael, I am 23 years old and I live in Utrecht.

I am currently in an in-between phase, finishing the last documents for my HBO Dance in Education while exploring different aspects of my artistic journey. At the moment, I teach, work in a coffeeshop, and train with Threading Theatre and Muk Klein Oonk for upcoming performances.

My main focus is figuring out my next steps while staying consistent and grounded—both physically and mentally—as a dancer.

My goal is to be a sustainable artist who keeps learning and exploring. I hope to continuously create and participate in work that examines the vast spectrum of what it means to be a physical human being in this world, always in interaction with the life around us.

I am especially drawn to performance and interdisciplinary art because I love experiencing art with my whole being. I admire artists who create work that engages multiple senses at once, fully immersing the audience in an interactive experience.

Being part of DOX Club gives me the opportunity to connect with fellow artists, which I value immensely. It helps me stay grounded, brings me joy, and enriches my experience as both a dancer and an artist. I am grateful for the chance to learn from inspiring and relevant makers.

Right now, I am particularly fascinated by embodied cognition—how we experience the world through the body. One of my biggest artistic inspirations is filmmaker Julia Ducournau. On a more personal level, my grandfather’s old home in France keeps me connected to myself and my artistic journey.

What is my message to the world? To Be kind, be aware, and listen.
