Marie likes the small things and the deep things. The feeling of wind touching their fingertips when walking, the scent of flowers they pass by and standing on top of a huge mountain and noticing how tiny everything seems. They love getting lost in endless conversations about alternative realities and all the coexisting ones we already live in.

“I want to make art with movement so apparently I have to learn how to dance.”

That’s how Marie, 24-year-old movement artist from Germany, started their discovery journey through the unlimited possibilities of the dance and performance art world at the age of 19.

Before their current studies at ArtEZ University of the Arts brought them to the Netherlands, following educational contemporary dance programmes in Berlin made them fall in love with movement improvisation, always looking for the rhythmicality and texture of their deepest insides.

The deep and layered emotional experience of human beings and how it translates into the body — willingly or not — fascinates them already since an early age. How is it possible that two contrary emotional and physical states, like for example restlessness and deep exhaustion, coexist within one body at the same time and create a totally new physicality?

They are also inspired by what happens when the emotional experiences of different humans meet, interact, collide, feed each other. The relationships with oneself, with others and within society keep stimulating their creativity.

They are bad at small talk but will be curious about all the faces and quirks of your soul.
