Kim Catharina Nieuwenbrug
Kim Catharina is an idiosyncratic dancer, maker, writer, and performer whose unconventional path has shaped a unique artistic voice. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Kim first pursued an international academic journey, earning a degree in Philosophy and Journalism at University College Utrecht. While this foundation sharpened their curiosity about the world and its layered meanings, the call of the arts soon grew louder than any Master’s program could.
Answering that call, Kim Catharina immersed themselves in a four-year multidisciplinary Performing Arts degree, training in dance, singing, and acting. This period solidified their passion for live performance. With a desire to move, inspire, bewilder and bring wonder, this young artist is ready to take the next step.
Now stepping into a new chapter with DOX, Kim Catharina is eager to make the jump from entertainment to the artworld, scratching a creative itch that demands engaging with art that is multi-layered, societal relevant, and where the connection between artist and audience takes center stage, inviting people to experience moments of wonder, question and transformation.
What makes Kim Catharina distinct as a performer is the blend of intellectual depth and vibrant performativity, paired with a flavor of humanity that lingers long after the curtain falls.
Something to take home from Kim’s dance philosophy is:
“The best artist is not always the one with the best technique, it’s the person who moves YOU.”
