Jenny

Jenny is an artistic researcher and theater maker based in the Netherlands. She recently graduated from the Master’s in International Dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam, where she focused on researching dance theory and traditions. Her background also includes theater direction, cultural studies and writing for performance. At DOX, Jenny reconnects with her passion for acting and dancing on stage. Ultimately, she is looking for a way to combine her instincts as a dramaturg with her talents as a performer.

As a maker, Jenny’s work is based on curiosity and embracing the parts of life that feel uncertain, unbound and scary as a way to create connection with her audience. She explores the politics of gender and sexuality, our ageing bodies and the societal importance of art through choreography, soundscapes and text.

In the future, Jenny would like to be part of a devising theater group, working together with artists from different disciplines. She wants to create a space where people can inspire one another and find community through their art. At the same time, she hopes her work encourages people to continue asking questions and embrace the beauty of discomfort.

Jenny is continuously inspired by her Greek heritage, drawing from traditional dances, music and myths. She also loves anything weird, provocative and a little scary. She particularly admires FKA Twigs, Black Morris and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
