Bea

Bea is a dancer and performance artist from Sicily, Italy, who has lived in the Netherlands for the past six years. Dance has always been part of her life, with hip-hop, contemporary and heels as the styles closest to her. Most of her dance practice has been self-taught.

Today, Bea is developing her practice as a performance artist by combining different dance styles and art forms. In 2021, she began training in aerial and circus dance and has since trained in aerial silks, aerial hoop and pole dance.

Before pursuing her artistic practice, Bea graduated in Political Science in Leiden. She now draws on this background to shape her performances into political manifestos, combining her passion for movement with her interest in communicating ideas and messages.

For Bea, dance is a form of activism. She sees movement as one of the most powerful forms of communication: no words are needed, no bridges need to be crossed, only movement and intention. Through her work, she aims to give voice to ideas and emotions, inspire others and bring messages to the stage that can reach a wide audience. She sees the stage as a space for expression, questioning and resistance, using her body and movement to transform her performances into political statements.
