Ania Pretka
Ania Pretka (she/her) is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer born and raised in Poland. She perceives art and theatre as spaces for profound personal reflection. Ania dares to mirror and question tendencies apparent in today’s society and the current status quo. Recurring themes in her work involve social issues, questions about human nature, and psychological phenomena. She is particularly interested in character dramaturgy, storytelling, and mental imagery. These areas stem from her deep passion for acting, dance, and psychology. In her daily practice, she merges her psychological knowledge, acquired at Erasmus University Rotterdam, with contemporary dance research. Additionally, she teaches weekly contemporary and ballet classes at the IID studio in Rotterdam. Ania is an alumnus of the NSST Ballet School in Poznan, Poland.
After graduation, she was awarded a scholarship to the Point Park Conservatory of Performing Arts in Pittsburgh. She has been studying and practicing dance and performance internationally since 2021, in Italy, the Netherlands, and the USA. She recently performed in Homo Homini Porcus, choreographed by Karolina Wesierska, as a member of Burried Dance Theater (2024/2025), Forget to Remember, directed by Sites of Memory & Sisterhood (Dox Club 2025), and Por Mi Puerta No Lo Pasen, a music video choreographed and directed by Nina van der Zouwen (2025). Ania is currently doing her internship at Dox Club.
